So at 10:52pm we had a phone call from someone claiming to be a DCI from Hammersmith police station, they asked to speak to my sister to which I replied, and why is that? They said it was an important matter and that they wanted to also speak to a H.Robinson. Dad. When I asked, well can you tell me the first name of the person with the initial H, the phone wen't dead.

We phoned the non-emergency police line and reported it, apparently it's a scam where people are impersonating officers telling OAP's that they have found their credit/debit cards and want them to confirm the pin and card number.

Just thought it good to share, to make sure none-of us get scammed!

One thing to watch out for, there is no way a DCI would be ringing you up for a found credit card, you'd have some PC or DC at the very most!

Unfortunately there are people who take advantage of the elderly and vulnerable, these are people's parents and grandparents, they're not dumb, they were just brought up at a time when people could be trusted!

I think Carlos has hit the nail on the head here. While most of us are savvy with the likes of these people the older generation are not. My mum being one of them. Its all very easy to say they should know better etc etc but they were brought up in an age where tosspots like this were far and few between.

Preying on the elderly is an evil practise and those caught doing it should suffer the full extent of the law and more.
