I was paying a very agreeable sum of £120 to insure my mini until I recieved a letter yesterday explaining that Allianz (or who ever they were) have changed their criteria and are no longer offering renewals. As a result Lancaster who I went through for the insurance told me I would have to reduce my anual milage from 15,000 to 10,000, I could no longer drive other peoples' cars and to top it off they wanted 700 quid for the privelage!!! What the F is that all about!!?? HUH? And just when I'm gonna buy a second mini due to being able to afford to insure them both! Has anyone else suffered the same travesty? And does anyone have a suggestions for insurers who accept mods and milage over 10,000. Also I made a hasty decision to go with another company through Adran Flux for £550 because it was che cheapest quote. But now I feel like I could still find someone cheaper. And do you think I will be able to get my deposit/first payment back if I find someone before my new policy starts? Thanksfor reading.

Presuambly Allianz have realised they were under pricing or over specifying their classic policies which is why they are no longer offering renewals of existing ones through brokers and your broker has worked to try to find you the closest match to what you already had. 10,000 miles is quite generous for a limited mileage policy, what is the point of a limited mileage policy at 15,000 miles when the average annual mileage is less than that? Adrian Flux are just a broker too, and have a habit of being quite cheap for the first year so be prepared for that amount to increase to be the same as if not more than your other broker found. I have been through a similar thing when I drove a van and after having been with them 2 years AA insurance told me they didn't actually cover vans at all and my previous 2 years cover had been invalid. Didn't get my money back though. You can never trust car insurers, the whole system is crooked.

When i went to change car on my insurance, from a 1.3 mk1 metro, to a 1.0 mk1 metro (that was a year OLDER!) they said it didnt match the criteria that my insurance was for, they also said they had changed there policy spec half way through, so i ended up having to cancel that policy and taking out a new 1 :-/
