Trying to fit a pair of these steel framed FIA approved seats. However I locate them (on Jon Betts special rails) they are just too wide at the shoulder, either ahead of, or aft the B post. I think they could just fit if the offside shoulder 'wing' was bent in a little to allow the door to close.

Anyone have any experience of bending the frame on these? Also, once bent (it only needs an inch or so) would it invalidate the FIA labels?

Thanks for any advice.

I guess a big Spanish windlass (strap or length of rope twisted to shrink) might do that but I really want the shoulder 'ears' bent in, not a bend in the frame at the back.

My old spare evo seat was too wide but as I'm a short ass the wing part hit the door so bent/ shaped the inner door too clear but it still ripped the cover and took chucks out and never failed scruitineering and had the pair of seats staggered too fit them, now got an cobra evo sear and fits perfect

But as long u bend them evenly with no signs they never no

Thanks Summs. At the moment, the seats would fit - if I kept the windows open! Since I can't reshape the window glass I guess it will have to be the seats which suffer a little.

Unfortunately not. The inner rail is already flush with the tunnel and trying to offset the seat only makes the problem with the shoulder of the seat worse.

Something like this would work:

http://www.acwmotorsportplastics.co.uk/naca-duct-large.html

You would be using it the wrong way round really but it would do the trick and get a bit of ventilation into the cabin as well.

Edit: they also do the rear windows if you don't want to make a pair yourself:

http://www.acwmotorsportplastics.co.uk/mini-classic-mk3-up.html

There are a load of different air scoops that might suit your needs

Certainly an option which would work, but not sure it would be acceptable for a historic rally mini.......

Should add that I have opened a similar thread in the motor sports section (should have done that first) because I guess people there will all have faced the same problems with FIA seats in their minis.
