hey guys, sooooo i hav eremover the thermostat. and would like to drain the water from the engine, i assume there will be a plug just like there is for the oil? if so where is it located. thanks, sorry if its a stupid question

There is a plug, at the clutch end facing the bulkhead, but removing the bottom hose from the radiator is the usual technique. you don't have to drain it to access the thermostat; though if you do you're going to need antifreeze.

The other option on Spi or late carb models, is to remove the temperature sender in the bottom front corner of the radiator.

I use my wet-n-dry shop vac to suck out the coolant in the top of the rad to below the top hose height, unhook the top hose and a heater hose and then suck out the rest.
No mess on the floor, no fighting with the bottom hose.
