Indicators Don't Flash

Hi all, used my mini yesterday & noticed that the indicators both sides stopped flashing, they come on but don't flash!

The flasher unit lives under the dash near the steering wheel.

Or depending on the cars age 1980s had it outside in the engine compartment under the wiper panel on the bulkhead
