So this morning i went and viewed a mk1 hornet project about 40mins drive from my house, met the owner jack, who showed me the hornet in question, from 1st looks it seems fairly decent condition, but i didnt delve fully into the bodywork. Its hydro (which is collapsing on one side) but its mostly complete minus its front end. Im collecting it next weekend, so will have better photos then! Ive always wanted an elf/hornet, and this one fits the bill nicely so left a deposit and went away happy! Plans are to restore it to original spec, but with a few period modifications/my own stamp put on it! Heres a few pics where its currently sat...

Mk2 hornet then lol i was told mk1, but im no expert lol its needs a fair bit of attention, but is half decent so im optomistic on how long its gonna take, 1st things 1st when i get it home is a ful check over n make a list what needs doing! Cant wait!

Exactly, its not a mini, its a hornet lol it was a case of "ive always wanted one of those, heres my chance" kind of situation, so i bit the bullet and bought it, it needs a fair bit doing, but nothing thats beyond my skills lol ill prob need to replace a hydro unit as its dropped on 1 side, that should be fun, but no plans for radical mods, just weld it up, sort the engine, lick of paint n mot it, n then use it while im restoring my metro! N then for the odd show here n there :)

So delivery date is set, its being dropped off 1st thing monday morning! Ive sorted a few panels for it already, including 2nd hand inner wings, a new wing and a salvaged front panel from a donor car (needs a few repairs, but generally in very good condition, ideal for converting into a hornet front panel!) ive also got the paint for it, smoke grey and black for the roof (i do have old english white, but undecided yet on what colour to do the roof) hoping it will be a quick turn around, but we shall see when i get it home and give it a proper going over :)

Gave it a quick wash to get the dust and dirt off it, looks tidy! Its sat on reverse rims as well which is a bonus (had to swap the front wheel though as the tire had come off the bead :-/ first looks seem promising, its had some damp inside so smells a bit musty, but its what you sort of expect from a car this age!
