Yeah I think your right. After much thought I have decided to go back to original colours so gloss black it will remain.

Just a question if anyone can help, I'm after the correct colour for the car. The paint code reads RZC, but I cant find exactly what colour this is, I couldnt find it on the chart on the forum and I have had a look on google ect to no avail.

If anyone could shed some light on it then this would be greatly appreciated, Its a 1991 Cooper, black with a white roof...

Cheers,

Liam

I think its a combination of the 2 colours NMZ/PMF

PMF = Black
NMZ = White

Thanks for the quick response, well when I looked on an Austin Rover BLMC Heritage site they advised me that the code meant black with white but couldn't tell me the actual black...

I will get a few testers in PMF and see how we go.

Thank you very much

I would actually be different, have a look at Renault 'Black Gold'.

It's a metallic Black that has, well, gold flakes in it. Looks awesome in the sun.

I think they are called;

Raven Black
Diamond White

But I would use the year and paint code.

Ok thanks for the help, and i'll take a look at that 'black gold'. did think also about a paint called 'aubergine' that a friend of mine reccommended, in some lights its black but from other angles it changes to purple, although to be honest the price put me off of that...

Hi, sorry about all the delays, I realise now i'm pretty pants at updates. Anyway here is where we are at the min.

The old calipers have been painted and resealed, the hubs have been rebuilt, new ball joints and bearings, the only original parts are the disks.

Attached File  IMAG0695.jpg   47.03K   14 downloads

Also had new brake hoses and new copper lines, also while I was at it I fitted a towing eye... Safety first...

Now the next thing to go in was meant to be my nice engine I built. Unfortunately due to life throwing up obstacles it turns out I am going to be expecting a baby (Yay! :D ) so for now the turbo engine will be put on hold due to a lack of funds...

Well been busy, as I said earlier I wont be putting the 998 turbo lump in because its gonna be too expensive and long to complete as I want it finished before the baby comes.

So the original 1275 lump just went in, I repaired the clutch, turned out to be the mechanism had seized in the flywheel housing. A wire brush and copper slip later and it moved beautifully...

Attached File  IMAG0699.jpg   53.48K   11 downloads

Well the engine went in, connected up the wiring, fitted a new water pump for good measure, waiting for a new thermostat. I also gave the rocker cover and water pump pulley a lick of paint to match the alternator.

Just need to paint the engine...

Also fitted the clutch master cylinder and also the brakes and servo. Just need a body to help me bleed them out...

Will update as I progress

Probabily should have given it a clean but never mind :P

Now tomorrow I'll be rebuilding the carb, see if this engine actually comes alive.

Wish me luck lol

Will update soon.

Hi all, been a busy boy today. Fitted the thermostat housing, also rekitted my carb and fitted that. Need to get some petrol and see what happens...

Attached File  IMAG0744.jpg   49.24K   9 downloads Attached File  IMAG0745.jpg   36.27K   5 downloads

Also gave the boot a lick of paint.

I started to cut back the paint on the front today. Only prob is it looks a bit, well flat I guess. See pic.

Attached File  IMAG0746.jpg   46.07K   17 downloads

I'm gonna try and polish it up tomorrow and see if I can deepen the colour to match the old paint. Otherwise I might be looking at trying again. Its the correct colour so I'm not sure what I've done...

Any advice or ideas would be appreciated!!!

Well the paint has been cut back and actually polished up quite nicely. The rad has been fitted and is all good, no puddles.

Attached File  IMAG0753.jpg   55.34K   4 downloads

Also we put some petrol in the tank, cranked it over and believe it or not she fired into life first time! I have a video of my friend filming it starting once it was primed, if I can figure it out I will upload it.

Other then that I have polished up its arse too so the rear valance blends in too now, I have fitted the lights and wired them all back in,

Fitted the bumpers,

Added the pinstriping,

Fitted the tailgate and bonnet,

Fitted in a new dashboard,

Fitted new plastic arches (did want sportspack arches but the wallet didn't agree so cheap plastic instead...)

Started to paint the block,

And plenty of small jobs I cant remember, its amazing how much you can do in a few hours when you set your mind to it.

Anyway here are a few pics of progress.

Enjoy.

Next job is to fit my HiD's, fit new window rubbers, and thinking about painting the wheels.

Black or White? Any ideas?

Opinions welcome, i'll update soon.

Cheers

Right well I been a busy bunny the last few days...

Fitted the grill and the front fog lights and battled the miles of tape someone had fitted and fitted the original electrics to run the fogs.

Then removed the original sealed beam headlamps I'd fitted and replaced them with Halogen type so I could fit my HiD's. Not sure about everyone on here but I'm pleased with the results...

And with the fogs...

:proud: Its all good

It's been a while so I thought I'd just finish up this thread.

Been a busy bunny,

fitted new drivers and passenger door windows,

finished painting up the engine and bits and pieces,

gave the wheels a lick of paint to match the roof,

four new tyres,

replaced some leaking driveshaft seals,

fitted new track rod ends,

fitted new steering rack gaiters,

fitted a new front number plate,

fitted a boot lining kit,

and about a million other tiny jobs!

Anyway I presented my little mini for its mot on Thursday and it failed >_<

The side lights didn't work with the ignition switched off!!! Of all the stupid things...

Anyway I got busy with my power probe and found at some point in this cars life the fuse for the dip/dim relay had blown, so instead of replacing it, the last owner rewired the lights.

After a few hours of tinkering I replaced the wiring correctly and got everything working. Re booked for sat...
