Hi ive got a problem trying to get a key cut a programmed for a mk4 golf tdi. It came with one key so i have brought a brand new genuine vw key from ebay. I have since tried to get it cut at several key cutters and no one will touch it as its not their key. I dont really want to have to buy another new key and then have a blank i cant use. Does any one know a cutter who will happily cut and program keys (prefferably in the midlands staffordshire area)? help much appreciated.

The keys blade is lazer cut and only available through VW. They are only programmable with the vehicle immobiliser code which is only available through VW UK. The main dealer will have to apply for the immobiliser code to allow key programming to work. Hope this helps. PS I used to work for VW

Hi cheers for the help ill give key machine a call. Other key cutters were more than happy to sort a key though andi-p its just they would only supply their own. So i guess that by now the immobiliser codes are available through third party ecu software. May be for new cars with the canbus systems this may apply but mine is fairly old now in modern car terms (03 plate).

I had a flip key cut locally, works fine, and coded it and the other keys using vagcom. All work fine.

when making my flip key i photographed my key and emailed it to a seller on ebay who sent me the blade cut exactly as my photo. i then bought a flip fob and a blank transponder. fitted the virgin tranaponder n key blade. found a local lad on gumtree who had a device to program the key without.needing a code.....his device read the code from the car.

Give Davenport & Burgess in Willenhall a try. Chances are they made the key blank originally, they make blanks for everyone and they also do key cutting/coding from the trade counter.
