HI all,
when my engine gets hot it seems to make the fuel evaporate and cause the car to stutter and nearly stall, gets better when the choke is pulled out and i get air into the engine. is there anything i can do to stop this ? can i use a heat shield or exhaust tape to cut down on the heat from the manifold ? any suggestions would be welcome

You will need to provide some more information: What carb are you using currently? Does it have a heat shield installed? Where is the fuel line routed through?
As for the choke improving the situation: when does this happen? at idle or when running? The choke does not improve airflow. What it does is partially open the butterfly valve and richen the mixture by allowing more fuel to be sucked in through the carb (by lowering the jet). So if pulling the choke improves the symptoms when driving (and the butterfly valve being open already), you're more likely to be have been running too lean than too rich. Have you checked spark plug color as a first rough indicator to whether you might be running rich (black plugs) or lean (gray/white plugs)?
Last but not least, what kind of fuel pump are you using?
