Secondly, magnesium is not good for a road car as the fatigue life is a bit indeterminate, they will burn if the car catches fire and are easy to damage on kerbs.
The reason for fitting to race cars is to reduce the unsprung weight, a factor which will not be noticed on a road car.

+1, I have seen a magnesium rear wheel go up on a bike at the TT. Anyone who remembers burning mag ribbon at school will know how hot it is. As for fatigue, we used some magnesium castings on our electric race car and suffered stress cracks within 500 miles. To be fair we weren't using them the way they were intended, but our ally ones (6082T6) have done nearly 3000 miles plus with no problems.First of all 7" wide with 10" tyres means that only racing tyres can be fitted. Maximum width for 165 width road tyres is 6.5".

For a road car it's hard to see how magnesium wheels will be an advantage. The weight of a road car is never that critical, unless you intend to drive very irresponsibly.
The tyre manufacturers recommendation is that the maximum width wheel for a 165 tyre is 6.5". Ideal width for tyre performance at 165 width is 4.5" or 5".
Surely if absolute weight and thus performance is so important that magnesium wheels are being considered, then best tyre performance will also be as important, in which case a 4.5" or 5" wheel will be chosen.
