From me Electronic there are lots here with the Powersparks/Accusparks ons running, I think one or two have been faulty but thats like any electrical component you buy.

The trouble is the quality of points now is very low and how many members here had had issues in the period the OP has brought up, I still say go Electronic is the way to go.

Points should go the whole service interval, the design improvements of the blue heel "wiper" points were to increase service life. The quality of the plastic seems to be the issue, grease the felt pad & check the combined resistance of the coil, and ballast wire if there is one, is no more than 3ohms to avoid melting. Or go electronic, pretty much the same cost & effort as replacing the points .
