Any advice on where to support the mini while I unbolt the old one and bolt on the new would be greatly appreciated.

I've just been having a look under the car to see where to support it. At the moment it is up on axle stands (but they are on the sub frame).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Adrian

A big plank of wood across the floor, just in front of the heel board, axle stand at each end.

If you haven't already remove the exhaust.

once that's out the road, get a good strong plank, I have a short scaffold plank.
put the plank under the car just in front of the heelboard (where the subframe bolts on) then put your axle stands under the plank.

If no plank then a couple of thick wood boards about 18" sq to spread the load

Nice that you all agree! I do too. I use a bit of 4*2 timber about 4 feet long (scaffold board is wider, but ok), axle stand at each side, maybe 6 inches in, so it is against the part of the timber which is supporting the flat part of the floor. That way the timber does not try to bend very much, so the load is well spread.

Same thing at the front, if you want to drop the subframe, quite often only partially to change the steering rack. The wood goes right at the front of the floor, as close as possible to the toeboard.

Worth keeping a bit of suitable timber in the garage, as you will need it again, hopefully not too soon!

Thanks to all of those responses.

I am new to the forum, posted two questions today and received good quality answers.

Thanks again.
