Just changed the oil in my mini, like a fool wasn't paying attention to how much oil I put in, how ever when it runs its now I have loads of smoke coming out the exhaust, have checked the dipstick and its bang on max, however it's an aftermarket dipstick and I'm not convinced that the min/max lines are accurate. I haven't another to compare against, just wondered if anyone knew roughly how big the gap is from top of dipstick to the max line on a 1275 so I could have a quick measure before draining some oil out?!
Many thanks

Joe

How much oil did you put in? A Mini takes most or all of an old "gallon" can, actually just over, maybe by half a pint, if drained fully. Now that we have gone metric, some arithmetic may be necessary. It should be just over 4.6 litres, if you put 5 in it will be jsut over nominal but not excessively high. More than 5 and it will be overfull.
