Hi putting a metro turbo engine into a 89 Mayfair and making it completely custom.. Just wondering will this sky rocket insurance? Has anyone got any experiences of insuring this sort of car?! Thanks

Depends completely on age, no claims bonus, what insurer you are with etc, but yes engine swaps do tend to bump it up a lot and adding a turbo wont help

I'm 20 and have 2 years no claims, currently pay £500 to insure a 2012 fiesta metal so I've budgeted £1000, I just hope that covers it!

Should do fairly comfortably but you never know with insurance companies - my '89 MK2 golf is £1500 whilst my '12 Polo which is significantly more powerful is £800!
