Continuing on from the issue i still have with the indicators refusing to work for some reason the car now wont start or even turn over.
The battery is fully charged and fuses are all good, at the moment I dont have the indicator stalk or wiper stalk connected to the loom - does this matter?
Turning the key in the ignition brings on the red light on the centre speedo but when turning to start nothing happens as i say it wont even turn over.
I only had the car running about a week ago!
Any thoughts / suggestions - could it be the ignition? If so any way I can bypass it to see if the car will turn over?
Thank you

Is there a click from the starter solenoid?
Did it only stop working when you removed the stalks?

One way of isolating where the fault would be is to remove the feed from the switch for the starter on the solenoid and run a 12v line into it with a switch and see if it will start then,
That will tell you where your problem is not and you can work your way back.

And did it work prior to you removing the stalks?
If the solenoid isn't clicking you either have no feed to it from the ignition switch (key) or its faulty! As said above, you could put power to the terminal as the ignition does and see of it cranks the engine, if it does there's something amiss in the feed from the ignition, if it doesn't you may have a faulty solenoid!
Are you sure you didn't disturb anything else when removing the stalks?

1979 solenoid should be on the wing .
use a piece of wire and join the small terminal with thewhite/red wire on to the threaded terminal with the brown wires on....If starter spins then solenoid / battery and starter are fine, If it doesn't then one of those 3 need further investigation.
If it does spin then problem lies between ignition switch and the white/red wire

Do things like headlights still work? It could be your starter solenoid is missing/broken/dirty, that would stop it turning over.
