So I'm in the process of removing the engine in slow time. While the alternator is off, should I change/service anything. It's an mpi type like this:

You can check the brushes and slip rings for wear. Bearings can also wear. If the unit feels rough when you rotate the bearings also can be changed. If you do open the unit up, do not attempt to remove the stator from the front housing. It is press fitted and removal with DIY tools will wreck it.
Bearings are;
1 x 6003 RS
1 x 6303 RS
AC
