After hearing alot of talk about how minis are very desirable to thieves, I'm wondering if it's a bit daft to be so open with my location. Especially when there's a pic of mine looking pretty on the driveway!

I think I'm gonna be a bit more vague with my location, it's not that I don't trust the users in here - I don't know who else is looking, all for the wrong reasons.

Your not being paranoid bud. Could you not park it first on the drive so other cars are in way/ out of view?

Yep, there is and will be popping down to halfords later to pick up a wheel lock.
It's just the online presence that I was thinking about.

i bought this http://www.halfords....catalogId=10151

fitted by turning the steering slightly right dand down, it sits next to the drivers A pillar, so the steering cant be turned, also helps if there is one turn applied to the steering before fitting the lock

In regards to the online security - I'm just sticking with my general area.

Bromley, Kent seems a big area to me to start searching for your mini

Sod that for a laugh in the winter! Especially if (read: when) the heater packs up.

EDIT: Yup, just changed it to the general area, rather than the town.

If you have bought one of these, I'd suggest returning it and getting your money back. They're not suitable for the classic mini because the gear knob unscrews, meaning it can be lifted straight off.

Hmmmm, yeah well I did actually think twice before posting this info on a public forum, but then decided that you'd have to be a pretty awful car thief not to have already worked that one out for yourself. So it's probably in the greater interests of the mini owner, to warn them about something that the vast majority of classic mini thieves must know already!!...... I think!!
