Righto... Shince my plan to make my other mini into a Blastic race car kinda died, due to the thought of all the money spent and then having to fork out even more for Mr Insurnce man, pretty much put me off the idea!

So, how about this? :

850 Mini - Slow, very cheap (And I would guess VERY insurnce friendly!)
Sort it out, fix up the body and such, all the normal mini problems (Rust etc)

Then, Pimp up the inside with white leather, cream carpet you get the idea.
May sound tacky, but a set of Hydrilics. Not the basic, Higer, lower air powered ones... Im talking the kind you see on the US Loweriders! The bouncing ones! :w00t:

I know where I can get the hydrilics and other mini bits, but does anyone know of a place where they can make Custom alloy wheels in any size? I know Im not going to get started on this right this secound! Its really going down on paper for now untill I can get a better paying job and finsih at Universty.

I reeeaallly want to get featured and a "one of a kind" mini! So, why not do it with some stlye? UK Lowrider Mini project is a go! :ermm:

to be honest, it doesn't really matter what you start with, an 850 isn't going to be much less on insurance than a 998, and once you start modifying a car, thats when the insurance goes mental!

Damn... I thought that was only really in the engine department? If you modify the engine that insurnce goes up... so does that also mean anything to the... damn et... :ermm:

I need a new better job :'(

Image make custom wheels.

Insurance is not just about how quick your car is - its about how desirable it is to.

Also an 850 full of hydraulics kit etc probably wouldn't move.

Well it may not be soooo bad with some choice modifications, and if you can get insurance with HIC (19+) then you get some things included without a premium hike. But anything non standard is likely to increase your premium.

Thanks for the link, Ill make a note of that one.
Hmm, So a 1000 would be better then if its going to be rougly the same as a 850 insuncre...

You'd proabably save a tiny amount, but its been said sooooo many times on this site, insurance largely depends on your personal circumstances.

Insurance companies take loads of stuff into account but 850 vs 1000 would prob be the same (coppers in it).
What I would say is that a mate of mine used to have a vw camper van with loads of hydraulics, it was great until he realised that he had to turn the power up more and more as the chassis was bending!!!
Minis are lets say not too rigid to start with, low riders are normally american cars as they are built like a brick sh3t house and dont bend.
Simon
good luck if you do it though

To get uor car to do that u need 4 hydralic pumps (which arnt exactly small!) and at least 4 yellow top heavy duty batterys and a way of charging them! you'll need a v-tech conversion if u want it to move!

Its not hard to do, you can do it with one battery and one pump but it wont bounce off the ground.
Fitting a system with a friend to one of his mini's in the next couple of weeks.

Dont airbags just go up... down... like the easte in MiniWorld... The effect Im heading for is a Mini that can dance to hip-hop, like you see in the US with their lowriders. As for the body twisting and such, Im getting ideas down on to paper to stop it from twisting the body, along with the help from my brother.

Also, been talking with Ray from Rayvern, He says such a kit would be £1000 (Before VAT and Nextday devilery) No welding or cutting needed. The pump is also placed on a mounting plate above the wheel arch (In the boot which will also hold the batterys needed) The kit just fits on like you would with a set of HiLo's, after that, just need to wire in the switchs and then hook up the pump!

Even if the pump is much larger then frist thought, I can always remove the rear seats!

As I said, Its all going down on paper for now, untill I get out of Uni and get a better job! But still, Ive started saving so Ill have somthing to work with!
