Hi all,

Bought a set of wheels a while ago and have put them on a week ago,

One tyre goes down to 7psi in 3 days and the others go down to 25ish in 3days

There are no visable leaks or objects in the tyres, side walls look ok,

Could they need re-sealing?

Any other ideas it could be as would be nice if didn't have to get new tyres :)

best get them off and into a water bath to find the leak. possibly valve or rim if no damage anywhere.

Tyres might not be sitting on the wheel properly

Yeh, get them off and sit them down flat. Then pour a little water around the rim where the tyre seats and if its leaking you'll see bubbles. Same goes for the valve area.

I have the same issue and i've tracked mine down to a badly fitted valve.

You can put them in a bath or a bid tub but unless it's already full, you're using alot of water for no reason....unless you've got a swimming pool...which we all have of course!!!

Second hand wheels, and yeah I'll check it in the bath and see if they are ok,

I hope they are not damaged :/

If second hand then a little light corrosion around where the bead sits can cause this.

Our local tyre place (ATS) sorted two of our Superlites that were doing this. Remove tyre, light grit rubdown and clean, then reseat the tyre, job done.

P.s. if checking in the bath etc. make sure they are fully or even slightly overinflated first.

My wheels have needed resealing a couple of times when the cars been stood for a while. Tyre guy gave me no explanation for it, just said they needed resealing.

i usually find i had to clean the inner edges of the rim and paint, let dry then refit tyre.

Paint is the key to stopping them just corroding again

Depending on the age of the wheel it could be leaking through the rim itself, some alloys after a good few years can become pourus and leak air

One of my wheels is going down. The wheels are second hand, but I made sure they were smooth and good condition before I had the tyre fitted (brand new).

I've pumped it right up and dunked it in the bath but can't even see no bubbles after watching it for a while. Hope the wheel isn't bent :(
