Giving the interior a little tidy up earlier today, and only just noticed this button next to the bonnet release. >_<

I dare not press it until I know what it does haha.

Thanks in advance!

That's where my extra light switch is mounted.

Have you got any additional lights? Or an extra horn?

Also, out of sheer curiosity...where did you get the idea for your username from?

Yup, got a full row of spots on the grill - but they're all operated from the stalk and normal switches. And nope, no extra horns.... don't say I need to back trace the wires! >_<

Hrimfaxi - normally spelt with a accented first "I" - comes from Norse mythology, meaning dark horse - derived from "Dark Mane" - they believed it ran across the sky, bringing night. It's the title of a song I wrote for my band, and it's stuck with me ever since. :proud:

EDIT: Not quite sure, i've got other buttons for that haha

Could it be a hidden cut off switch? I've heard of people installing these in further aid of theft prevention..

What color wires is it wired up to at the loom (if any?) Does it appear to be a on/off switch or a momentary switch?

If it's not wired to the loom, you may unfortunately have to trace it to where/what it is connected to.

Can't go back that far, without digging it all out - what I can see at the moment, is 2 black wires .... one going left under the glovebox, then into a loom on that side. The other goes into the right hand side loom. The switch looks like momentary switch, though I can't be too sure. Both aren't connected to the alarm, that much is true.

Right... that's my Mini related Saturday afternoon planned then haha.

Yup, it'll come to that, of course - but was just asking because I've heard of people installing cut-off switches, links to immobilizers and the likes, wanted to get a general idea of what people might install a switch there for, before I go prodding away at it.
