Shafted And Let Down

My son and i feel angry and let down by a company called Classic Mini Bits based in Bradford. The guy Jason Rafferty is his name never answered one of over 30 phone calls or any of the 6 emails i sent regarding my sons purchase of 2 subframes costing over £800. He was quite clearly going to keep the cash and supply us with nothing. It was only when i opened a paypal dispute on the 44th day did we get a reply. Absolute disgrace. We got our money back through paypal but no apology or proper explanation. My son worked part time in a chippy to save the money for renovating a 40 year old mini as his first car. He is just 17 and learning to drive and feels that he can trust no one now. I see people are still buying his subfames off ebay but he could not supply us so god help the rest of them. We have only just got our money back and i now want to leave a review on ebay but because its over 60 days it seems that i can't warn others. I note that he has good reviews for smaller items.
We would have waited for the goods, we wanted the goods, if there was a delay we would have waited, but no contact or explanation is a disgrace!
Sorry for the rant but we want to warn others.

old skool mini's on ebay... cant recommend them highly enough... even minispares are good even if it costs them custom.
+1 that, old skool minis are great, great service and quality. However I have also had an experience with the classic mini bits ebayer. I purchased two "reconditioned" radius arms which were absolute rubbish. They wore out in no time at all and when I got them the old shock absorber sleeves were still on the stud and had just been painted over! Took me hours to remove, so i'd agree, don't even go near them if you're stuck.

Hi Chippy, sorry to hear about your problems with the subframes. You have been very patient and thankfully you have got your money back.Hi All

I only use Minisport at Padiham or Minispares ( Harrogate branch ) and i can assure you both are helpful and service is good.
I only live up the road from you in Melling so if you want to pop by with your son and have a look at my mini then your more than welcome.
There are alot of local mini enthusiasts and they are willing to pass on all sorts of tips etc.
Don,t let one bad experience spoil the fun of owning a mini as we have all been there and to a degree i am still battling to get a cylinder head back after 15 months of promises!!!
PM me if you fancy a chat.

Again minispares are great, as are there competitors, i like to shop around but when buying parts new or old i tend to use the shops that advertise in the magazines, as they are legitimate sellers, and not bought anything on here but most sellers seem safe to deal with, but i can imagine you get the odd item that may not be as described. Just go with the old rule of thumb if it sounds to good to be true, it most likely is.
welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy your mini as much as we all do!

I would say that indicates the seller doesn't really know what they are doing, but is 'reconditioning' and selling used car parts.
Now that is a dangerous combination!
