I have just fitted the lowered type spax coilovers to my clubby estate project and on there lowest setting it just is not low enough. What to do make new mounts for the fronts and fit turrets to the rear. Or would I be better to go with hi lows and a good set of shocks. I want to go low so some help would be appreciated. Running 10s.

I am going lowered shocks, hi-lo's set low as possible, lowered shock mounts and tubbed the rear arches, do you have any pics of your clubby estate, as this is what i am looking to do on mine?

Mine has been turreted and tubed at the rear and I will be making some new mounts for the front,
The problem you will have first is the top arm brackets will bottom out on the front subframe before the shocks reach full travel, this means new top arm mounts need to be made as well.

Have a look through my build thread for the turretting process.

Although I am now having problems with the radius arms hitting the boot floor

May be wrong, but can you fit bump stops in the rear to stop the radius arms hitting ?

You need to consider the possible failure of your ball joints at your current height and if you go any lower. They are running at a serious angle in that photo and you risk them hitting the edge of the cup and snapping especially as your suspension is also at its softest setting.

Not to mention the lateral load on that shock absorber actually! You can see it bowing in the picture!

Right I had a bit of a play this evening I have modified some top mounts and lower mounts and it is looking better.I have extended the top mounts so that the shocks will have some adjustment. And moved the lower mount further out so the shock is closer to vertical but it needs the go out further. And with some adjustable lower arms and a bit of camber it should sort out the problem of the upper ball joint. These have only been made to see if it will work and then I will make some proper ones. Have you got a full pic of the car the way it sits on the 10's, as I am swaying between 13's or 10's for my clubby estate and this will give me some inspiration.

Cheer
