Repairing Dif Cover Helicoils - Stripped Threads, Bolt Length & Torque

Hello folks. On the weekend i'm going to attempt to repair/replace 'believed' x3 damaged helicoils forming my gearbox DIF casing. I've got a V-coil helicoil remover and a bunch of replacement 5/16 18t UNC inserts.

Story is I've been investigating a slow, small oil leak at the DIF casing for some time now and when checking the DIF casing bolts the three, (circled below) don't ever seem to properly bite & tighten.

Does anybody know whether they are all of the same length? On my car I don't think they are the original bolts and of the three 2 are 1" in length and the other one a bit longer. Also I was thinking that they should be torqued to 18ftlb's, do you know if that's correct?

Looking at where the oil leak is, I'd suspect that the small rubber o-ring that seals the gear change detent spring is defective or missing.
Pull the cover, replace and check beofre diving in and changing helicoils.

Ahhh sorry buddy!!!!! This is a stock photo from the web to best show the bolt locations... If I were to send in the actual pic of mine we'd better see what we we're on about.
