today i have become the (temporary) keeper of a really beautiful Bengal cat. her name is "Nala" and until sunday afternoon when the real owners come back.

i have spent most of the evening trying to take a decent pic but it just doesnt do her justice!

this is my best effort so far, will do better tomorrow!

doesn anyone else have one of these beautiful animals? £500-£1000, worth every penny in my opinion!

It never ceases to amaze me the cost of animals,

11 years ago, our springer cost £150. Admittedly, he's utterly retarded.

We adopted a 1 year old chocolate lab, that cost the people that bought her. £900!

i know they are normally bonkers but this one is as good as gold! its quite a lap cat really.

i know £500-£1000 may seem like allot for "just a cat" but you wouldnt think twice about spending that on an engine or a paint job, and thats for a car you might only use a handfull of times a year. this little beauty is going to be waiting for you to get home every day and will give you endless love and affection.

hell, i spent over a grand on my youngest cat and he has only got 3 legs!

as i said above, i know they are expensive, but i dont see why an animal should be any less valuable than a car/huge 3d tv/mountain bike/guitar (or whatever your into)

you have to remember, they are actually alive! real living things capable of independent thought! thats very special and surely makes it very valuable?

I love my dogs, I wouldn't trade them for the world. :-)

I couldn't justify it on a cat as I'm not a cat person :P

The one on the right is 11 and has just completed chemo therapy, he is now cancer free woo!

it just sounds a lot but then when you put it like that it's not so bad

Bengals are a bit bonkers but lovely. Only problem is they stray if you let them roam and they get stolen all the time.

Get a moggie. :-)

Bengals are expensive because they are a first generation hybrid between a wild cat and a domestic one. It's not an easy thing to actually make happen and they are rare as a result which makes them more desirable to some people, personally I think they are nuts. My wife used to sell loads of them. They are always popular and they sell as quick as you can get them from the breeders.

I used to have a Bengal and a Toyger - Bengal was male and the Toyger was female.

The Bengal was very very clever and very attentive, the Toyger was thick as two short planks but extremely adorable. Amazing cats and I miss them like mad.

If you decide to go for one I would definitely recommend Gaynor at http://www.queenannecats.co.uk/ excellent breeder and has some of the best cats in the country.

I don't like cats, but I must say, the markings are very nice on Nala. £500 - £1000 for a cat though? Mind you, I've spent £900 on a snake >_<
