Hi All,

I'm renting a U-Haul trailer to tow home my mini which I have brought back to Canada with me.
I suddenly realized that the space between the tracks might be too wide for the little Mini! Their trailers have open air between the tracks.

Can anyone tell me the width between the tires of an MPi Sportspack? I need to go measure the trailer, but can't measure the car until it is released by customs, by which point I will already be there with the trailer. Would be a shame to get there and find out it doesn't work.

thanks!

The front track of a standard late car is 1.24m (4' 3/4"). That would be between the tyre centres of the standard car and right now I can't remember how the offset of the Sportspack wheels differs from standard but it won't be far off. With 145 section tyres the clearance between the inner faces would be 1.095m. Again Sportspack wheels would be slightly narrower. The rear track is slightly less. Ride height will also change this, if the car has been lowered the front track will spread out, the rear will not.

You may be better off trying the question on the message board at www.minimania.com as that is an excellent place for US & Canadian owners to swap info and I know that folks there have used U-Haul equipment for moving their cars.

If it's close you could look at using wheel spacers - possibly the only reasonable use for those nasty stud extension ones.

One thing led to another, and I am going to have a flatbed tow truck bring it home instead of the uhaul trailer. I would drive it if It were legal...but still on uk reg plates.......cops here would notice!
