Should a standard 1275 head have a heater take off next to the ignition coil bracket ? I have recently bought a 1275 engine and am trying to decide if its mibi got a fast road head on it. Are there any quick ways to tell ?
Cheers

The 12G940 head (standard 1275) has the casting for a heater take off, yes. The later mini's (90's ish) didn't have it tapped and used a sandwich plate take off above the thermostat instead, Metros also used this method.
There's no quick way to tell what has been done to the head short of removing it having a nose. Not a bad idea anyway if you've bought it without any history as such, pop the head off and give it a quick freshen up and find out what you have while you're there. :)

Thanks for the reply yes it has the space for a take off but it hasn't been drilled and it has the spacer in the thermostat housing :) think I'm going to build a fast road engine while its on the bench :) just run with my 998 at the moment
Thanks again
