I've noticed a substantial fuel leak under the rear of the car (it's not been used for quite a while so hadn't had much fuel in until recently) and had a look today.

There's a lot of fuel around the hose clip where the rubber fuel pipe connects to the metal one, and I assume there is a problem either with the clip itself and/or the rubber pipe. I've tried undoing to clip to replace that and the pipe, but it is so rusted it isn't opening, does anyone have any tips on what I can do, or if the leak may be something I have missed?

I am considering using a junior hacksaw to saw through the clip, is this a terrible idea? Pic below, thanks for any advice.

Have you tried a bit of Wd40 or similar? Worth a try. Put some on and leave it a while to penetrate, might have to do this a few times

Could be the hose is perrished from the tank to fuel pipe or the pipe is rusty I'd drail the tank out and have a good look at those 2 items

And when it goes back together use proper fuel line clips, not jubilee clips. The later tend to chew the soft hoses.

Cheers

I haven't, but the actual screwdriver slot is wearing away every time I try and turn so I think it might be past that point unfortunately.

Yes I think taking the tank out is the best option - I am not sure how I can separate the pipe and the hose as the clip is not budging. I assume using a junior hacksaw or similar is fairly safe if the tank is empty.

Ah ok, I thought that might not be the original clip, I will get some fuel line clips, cheers.

Right, cut through the clip today so have got the fuel tank out - do people recommend the braided fuel pipe (such as this http://minispares.co...tings/PPK6.aspx) or is regular rubber pipe just as good (and cheaper!)?
