Hi is it possible to mount the Wiper motor on the left hand side of the engine bay? What effect will this have?
I am doing a 16v conversion and the air filter is going to need to sit where the wiper motor is!
Thanks for your help.

Yes, as long as you have a sufficiently long flexible drive rack, and can get some more tubing and flare it to fit the motor and wheelboxes, if needed. They will park in the wrong place unless you can rotate the position of the parking switch on the motor. Other Lucas motors may be available, which park in the opposite position. Or, if there is room under the scuttle, you could turn the wheelboxes upside down.
You could start by taking the wiper system out, and assembling it backwards on the bench to see if the existing tubing will suit your needs.

Many UK cars built for export markets have the wiper motor on the opposite side.
Presuming that you have a Mk 3 or later, you need to change the length of the tube between the wiper motor and first wheel box or have the wipers using the other two holes in the scuttle meaning they are positioned for a left hand drive car.

Which is a left hand drive car!
You can do it because it's a completely modular system but don't follow the instructions for moving it to the other side as for a LHD / RHD conversion, and don't use the other holes on the scuttle. The wipers will have to wipe the screen in the proper way or they won't clear the area they need to in front of the driver. You don't want the wipers parking the other side because they will leave an unswept quadrant in front of the driver. That doesn't mean you don't want to change the park position in the motor though, you can either do that or turn the wheelboxes over. It's a headache to work out this stuff without have the system in pieces in front of you!

leave the motor and assembly as per origional and put the motor on the inside of the bulkhead and feed the tube through, you might need to lenthen the shaft to the 1st wheelbox tho
