I'm considering fitting a 2 piece (steel not fibreglass) flip front to my year 2000 rover mini cooper sport as over the next year I'm going to have to replace both wings, front panel, scuttle and window frame just I've always wanted a mini with a flip front and thought while I've got the work to do I might as well fit one, just thought I'd see what others thought of the idea ? Might not be the right place for me to ask but would be good to get some answers. Thanks

it may effect the value or put off buyers at a later date and is likely to put up your insurance

but it's your mini and if it's something you have always wanted

not a flip front it doesn't, you end up with less room to work that a standard front

making it removable gives more room

I was thinking of value changes but to be honest I'm going to be keeping the car for years to come so wouldn't mind, I had thought of it to make it easy to work on the engine and had second thoughts but I seen a while ago a mini with a flip front but was removable so figured I'd try that idea, I don't mind insurance changes as next year I'm going to buy another car so will only insure it for temporary insurance if I need to, I know its a cooper sport and don't want to affect the value but in the end if I'm going to keep the car I wouldn't have thought it'd matter I want to have the car stripped and rebuilt anyways but obviously need another car before I do that lol. But thanks for your thoughts guys

Take a look at my thread near the last two or so pages I've fitted a flip up front using rover 75 boot hinges on custom mounts and gives just the same access as a removable front but you don't need to take it off and it looks cooler (well I think it does)
