The chromed rubber window trim on my rear window is looking tired - so I want to replace it.

Just asking if there's any tips with doing this?  Apart from the obvious, like "try not to use a hammer" :P
Is the specific tool really needed, or can it be done with carefully with some leverage from a screwdriver?

Cheers.

specific tool is definitely needed, use a screwdriver and you'll probably split the sill, apart from that its easy :-)

Just re fitted both windows ,front (pain) and rear (easy) used furniture polish as a lubricant, buy the proper bead tool about £10 (minimine ebay ) much easier. Shame not closer could have loaned mine !

Out of curiosity - what makes the front harder?

Ah, cheers for the suggestion!  Just ordered one now, handy to have about I guess.

Fitted the rear one by myself no problem. The front ended with help from the wife and niece ( handy at the time ! ) think it was a combination of new rubbers and more curvature on front screen than rear. Work for a American firm that make yellow earth moving dumpers, and in my time have fitted hundreds flat screens (easy, bonded in now ) so might be just the curvature.
