good to see hardly any bwm's.. .. just a question .. on the same note, why is the info page on the beaulieu site have a picture of bwm's when they are really not part of a classic car event.. found it quite misleading as was trying to find info on today and thought I was on wrong site/event- get it right beaulieu!!
Answer: Because the event is organised by the 'Mini Cooper Register' which welcomes ALL Classic Mini and New MINI Coopers as members and includes a MINI Cooper section in 'CooperWorld' the clubs monthly magazine which as you can see below often features MINI's on the cover. The small group of MCR members who have worked hard to organise the Beaulieu show for many years also own MINI's themselves as well as classics and one even works at the Oxford MINI Factory.......As a member myself since the MCR started in 1987 we have also, as a club, welcomed all Rover Mini Coopers since their launch in 1990, even when some narrow-minded people like yourself considered them to be a 'new' car and not worthy of being displayed alongside Mk1, 2 & 3 Coopers as classics (especially those classics built under BMW after 1994 and the BMW funded MPi update to keep the classic Mini in production until 2000 against Rovers original plan to terminate the Mini in '94).

It was a very good day today. I managed to pick up some panels for the project to start tomorrow at good prices... Will definitely be going back next year!
There were some truly lovely cars there as well. Although, I don't much care for the cars that people trailer everywhere and don't actually drive, seems utterly pointless to me. Minis are meant to be driven and enjoyed and it just seems so unnatural when they're not.
Sorry about the rant... it's getting late.

I know several older members of the MCR who trailer their early Mini's or Works Mini's to events.......if you are getting older along with a car that is not suited to long distances on modern motorways then better it is trailered for people to see than not on show at all. I have driven classic Mini's for over 35 years but I will no longer drive one hundreds of miles just to attend a show like I would have done years ago.......live and let live. ![]()

I don't necessarily have a problem with people who trailer their cars to events, that's perfectly understandable if they've just spent a week cleaning it. It's the people who buy a car, clean it, then never drive it. They just keep it in a garage and look at it. I really don't see the point.

One of the concours entrants had to drive his car from France to the event due to a trailer problem and still won one of the top prizes.

Takes all sorts........some people build & restore a car then sell it on immediately after for profit or because they get more satisfaction out of building rather than driving, then to some a classic car is an 'investment' perhaps to pay for their future old age and to others usually younger owners it is their only daily driver because the Mini is still a fairly common classic car built quite recently until 2000.

Really good day, never seen so many mini's of all sorts and ages.
Spent a small fortune on bits, as you do.
Bargain of the day had to be the rear wheel cylinder tool from minimine, 6 quid!! that's gonna save some swearing.

highlight of the day had to be these beauties;
