Lets hope we get a picture of a true Italian mini taken at the factory at Lambrate on the front cover at some point, there are enough out there after we visited the factory before the IMM

But doubt that it will ever happen

Seeing as an Inno won the top prize at the show, you might be in luck! :proud:

Great day all round, although it's been mentioned eslewhere that the real stars of the show should have been the 1071 Cooper S's which came along to celebrate the marque's fiftieth anniversary.... it would have been nice to have seen them displayed in the centre of the show I think. I'm sure I've never seen so many Mk1s and Mk2s in one place before though, what an eye watering sight they all were.... made me wish my car was finished on time!

A few pics...

good to see hardly any bwm's.. .. just a question .. on the same note, why is the info page on the beaulieu site have a picture of bwm's when they are really not part of a classic car event.. found it quite misleading as was trying to find info on today and thought I was on wrong site/event- get it right beaulieu!!

Answer: Because the event is organised by the 'Mini Cooper Register' which welcomes ALL Classic Mini and New MINI Coopers as members and includes a MINI Cooper section in 'CooperWorld' the clubs monthly magazine which as you can see below often features MINI's on the cover. The small group of MCR members who have worked hard to organise the Beaulieu show for many years also own MINI's themselves as well as classics and one even works at the Oxford MINI Factory.......As a member myself since the MCR started in 1987 we have also, as a club, welcomed all Rover Mini Coopers since their launch in 1990, even when some narrow-minded people like yourself considered them to be a 'new' car and not worthy of being displayed alongside Mk1, 2 & 3 Coopers as classics (especially those classics built under BMW after 1994 and the BMW funded MPi update to keep the classic Mini in production until 2000 against Rovers original plan to terminate the Mini in '94).

sorry to hit a nerve .. narrow minded mmm just being honest.. lol ; ]

the pr company who does beauleiu website have apologised for getting it wrong.. they say they will put pics of minis next time to give true representation as the bwm is in a slow enforced demise... ; ]]

What makes me laugh is the way that it seems to be common practice for people to build stainless steel axle supports that bolt on to hub allowing the owner to show just how clean his wheel arches are! Its getting silly now because when one person does it and wins everyone seems to think that they have to copy to stand a chance of winning. Just ridiculous.......

Sorry dont mean to turn this thread into a show and shine rant.........

There was one of those in the concours tent at Beaulieu. He was showing off his Minisport brakes. If that was me, I would want to be hiding the fact that I have Minisport brakes on my car, not advertising it!

You're right, it is ridiculous.

My nerves are fine, we just have different opinions.......the MINI has been around over 12 years now and along with Jaguar Land Rover has become an important and successful part of the British Motor Industry worldwide again which is something to be proud of for all the workers at Oxford, ......as said the 1990's Rover Coopers and especially the later MPi's are also not considered a real Mini Cooper in the eyes of some early Mini purists! I can remember some diehard members leaving the MCR when we voted to accept it in the club back then........Rover had planned to end classic Mini production for good in 1996 when it failed to meet new European safety and emission laws. New owners BMW could not believe Rover management were planning the end of their most famous brand worldwide and that Rover could not see the future value of investing in the classic Mini and a future replacement. BMW then insisted (with the late John Cooper's help) that several million pounds was invested in the 1997 Mpi A-Series engine upgrades to reduce emissions, along with front rad, side impact door bars and the airbag/seat belt pretensioner SRS system was added, all of which kept classic Mini production going for another 4 years until 2000 and the launch of the R50 MINI in 2001 as designed by Rover engineers at Gaydon and Longbridge. All classic Mini's after 1994 were of course built under BMW and even have 'BMW Group' printed in their handbook so it always makes me laugh to see those '100% BMW free' stickers stuck on the back of any post '94 Mini.

Lol .. im slowly getting rid of those bwm parts on my mini .. but seriously we all know what we mean by the mini .. im afraid the bwm copy has its market and persons who drive it .. it was reasonably popular in the early days buts its number have dwindled at events.. lots of local clubs are for 'real minis' only but don't make a big thing of it.. perhaps its now time for the main event organisers to give in also.. ive heard the other arguments about rover/bwm mpi's etc.. sorry bwm's -no thank you !!
