I have just discovered my new favourite girly summer drink!

I've always enjoyed Bloody Marys with a dash of tabasco and Worcester Sauce and black pepper in the tomato juice but make them with gin instead of vodka and the sweetness and scent makes them perfect!   :highfive:

And part - or all - of my five a day!  :D

Jon you big girl!!! :o

.... How can you come along and ruin a perfectly decent manly thread about beer, soda stream and 70's skin flicks, by talking about gin and cocktails?? You should be ashamed of yourself!! Consider yourself stripped of any manly status you may have had with immediate effect!! :P

That really made me giggle.

This manly chick is off to bed, as I have work tomorrow (and have drunk the house dry)

Wonder how long it will be before Max&Paddy brings in the fosters

I dont really have  a favouritre drink. It depends how im feeling.   If I'm in town, it's mainly fosters, JD and coke, vodka and coke, and jagerbombs. at house parties it tends to be fancy ciders all night

FOSTERSSSSSSSSS!!!

Try not to get too excited   but you're right, you're slacking.. how have you missed this!?

Hobgoblin, Bombadier, Doombar, etc I'm so dissapointed with the lot of you following the advertising, I thought being cool mini owners you'd all have varied beer tastes as well.

There are so many good beers out there you shouldn't be limiting yourself to just one or two, particularly not these mass produced ales, yes they're better than Fosters and Carling, but there are many, many better beers available!

In my opinion, the best test of a pub is Timothy Taylors Landlord, if kept well it's an amazing beer, but it's difficult to do and often not at it's best. This therefore allows you to judge the perfection of the pubs cellar monkey / ale tinkerer, with accuracy!

Homebrewing... that's something I want to try, though I know I couldn't be sensible with it.   :P

I homebrew, and it's easy to be sensible, you put the beer in pint bottles and measure your drinks out that way, (bottle conditioned so still real ale).

I normally have anywhere between 40 and 160 pints ready, allowing me to pick and choose between IPA's, bitters, old ale's, and even ciders.

I brew from kit or all grain, and currently have an all grain beer maturing that I brewed in my kitchen and is at an astonishing 17%...

Got a cracking real ale place here - not a traditional pub, more a bar that's under a viaduct - which means I will normally try and sample something new every time. Prefer dark beers - my current favourite is Tyne Bank Mocha Milk Stout

That's better - real beers!

Being allergic to both wheat & maize, that doesn't leave me with a great many brews that I can actually drink!! So by default I have to endure those hop, barley and rice based beers, such as "Bud", "Cobra" and "Tsing Tao"...... which is why I generally drink cider!! :(

If anyone knows of any other wheat and maize free beers though, then please do let me know!!  :-)

It's really not hard to brew your own beers, then you'd know exactly what was in it!

Alternatively speak to your local breweries, most of them are more than happy to discuss what ingrediants they use, (they'll be more guarded about exact quantities and their yeasts), and will probably have a real ale or two you can enjoy!

My wife's landed a job this year researching the products of a Hertfordshire brewery!

Which Hertfordshire brewery is that? Our offices are in an old building of the McMullen's brewery in Hertford, and I also have a friend who works for Tring (VERY handy!)

I second the homebrew - it's easy and fairly cheap to do from a kit, and if you bottle it it's no different to having 40 bottles in your cupboard. Very satisfying too! I've only ever done kit brewing but the next one will be all-grain I think, time for an upgrade :)

They are both very good Herts breweries!  :highfive:

Better not tell you which one we're sampling tonight because it's meant to be mystery shopping  ;-)

Yeah I suppose that's an option, but with my food allergies I already have to make virtually everything I eat from scratch, so I really don't fancy having to make my own beer too. That and having a constant supply of beer on tap sounds a lot like a one way ticket to alcoholism to me!!  O_O

Don't know the Brewery, but tried a (few) pints of something simply called "Black" the other night, was a stout.  Good stuff.
