Hi everyone,

Strange problem here....

1966 Austin Mini Cooper S.

Engine starts on the key fine..no probs.  However, the engine won't turn off at the key...it will just sit there happily running until it runs out of petrol or explodes due to overheating :-)

Any ideas?

thnx.

Looks like it...

Are these easy to replace? Also, what's the best way of turning the engine off in this situation? Stall it?

Stalling it would work but you'll still have power going to the coil which I believe will then damage the coil if the engine isn't running.

Once you've stalled it disconnect the wire off the coil positive ..but make sure it can't short out on anything.
