1275 solid block A (not A plus)

Currently I only have a breather on the transfer housing. It here a timing cover with breather that will fit? If there is, i haven't found it. Or is my only option to add a breather at the fuel pump takeoff or rocker cover?

Thanks,
Keith

Some A's also used the same tensioner as the A+. both the early egg shaped 'n later chain cover were available with a breather can. You should be able to fit a later cover over an earlier rubber ring tensioned chain, but you might have to drill an extra hole in the end plate, or swap that too. The breather cans on Metro engines need a bit of hammer shaped tlc to clear a Mini's fan. Another option is to stick a pipe on the engine side of the end plate, near the fuel pump, like you can find on inline A Series.

I fitted the later A+ type cover with breather to my A-series engine. I had the engine apart so changed the back plate behind the chain too, but i dont think you need to. Just the cover and its gasket.

I got mine from minisport at the time.

Thanks for the help. I now have a plan. I'll source tha A+ cover. Since the engine is fully disassembled for boring the cylinders I'll fit it to the back plate by drilling and tapping an additional bolt hole or source a proper back plate.
