I have just fitted my pedal box only find there is quite a lot of movement when you push the pedal down(I have used a new clevis pin). So I tuck it all out again (it's a bear shell rebuild so not to hard). Only to find that the play, is due to the hole in the end of the pedal becoming enlarged. Do I weld it up and re drill it. Ream the hole out and have a pin made (does it need to be hardened ?) Or just put up with the play.

Either find a good used one or weld it and re-drill.  You will have to make sure to get it in the right place though, the position is quite critical.  Someone put up a drawing of the original measurements here recently but I can't remember what thread it was in relation to.  I wouldn't increase the pin size because then you will have to modify any new masters you need in the future, and there isn't a lot of meat in the pushrod clevis anyway.
