I'm not sure one would fit if its the same depth as a single din unit. My single din is pretty tight against the bulkhead and space depth gets smaller higher up. Thats assuming you have a standard type wooden dash.

Best bet would be a centre console and mount it just under the heater imo (but re-route the heater blower so it doesnt blow hot air over your radio ) but it would look cool done subtly and sounds like its an unusual mod :)

just to give you an idea of how far out it sits, this is sat directly on the shelf and is about 1cm from the mounting face to the dash rail, so obviously the further you mount it up, the bulkhead will bring it out more, with a standard type wood dash you need a spacer plate to mount, hope thats of some help

Or go for a similar design dash as my homebrew design, it was a quick one so I could get my stereo in and tidy up the dash area
You would have to bring out the centre section a little further but that would allow you to mount a double din, or go for a galaxy note which is a bit smaller than a tablet and will be a similar size to a double din but without the depth?

im using a minisport fibreglass dash, i made sure i mounted it so it sits about an inch and a bit out from the dash rail, will give me plenty of room. guess you can use anything similar or even make your own dash like above, anythings possible
