Poly Suspension Bushes - All Round Or Half 'n' Half?

Best Answer Dan , 07 May 2013 - 08:14 AM

Bottom arms need the poly bushes to be installed very firmly on the shelf in the shop where you considered getting them from.  It's completely the wrong material for using here.  Stick with rubber, maybe a slightly harder grade than standard and if you have altered the camber and castor much from standard then consider getting some altered geometry bushes but don't use poly.  If you do insist on poly you will need to change them every 18 months - 2 years.

So as is always the way; replacing one thing leads to replacing many things (I am aware that by replacing one moving part you make all the other older parts wear twice as quickly); So far I've replaced just the tie rods, (and fairly recently the dampers, doughnuts, trumpets and knuckles) but I'm probably going to go most of the way to replacing the whole front suspension.

My question is: As with the tie bars where poly bush on the outside and rubber on the inside is recommended due to shearing possibility; what is recommended for lower arms? Does this need one of each or are polyurethane bushes all round recommended?

Thanks again for the wisdom.
