Hi all, I need to get a Speedo cable asap!!! Does anyone know if the likes of euro car parts would sell such a product? Also, what's it like to change the cable?? Are we talking minutes, hours or days?? Thanks

They can be found on ebay, and the speedo cable can be changed relatively easily in a matter of minutes...

From experience, with a centre speedo, you can unscrew the cable directly from behind the speedo in the engine bay. The gearbox end is slightly more difficult (need small hands and patience), but can be done with the engine in the car! Fitting is the same, in reverse.

Not sure about 2/3-clock dashes, i believe they have a different style cable that fastens to the speedo more like a clip than on a thread.

Hope that helps!

If you're nimble and clever (like my mate) you can get the end of a small screwdriver into the grooves of the wheel-shaped nut where it bolts to the gearbox from underneath the car, and gently tap it round with a hammer.

It's one of those jobs which can be done in minutes, or many hours including the loss of a lot of knuckle skin if the gearbox end won't come undone...

As I've got sausage fingers, I couldn't get my hand down inbetween the radiator and the bottom hose , so ended up taking the radiator out! Gave everything a good clean and repaint whilst it was out, so took me about 3 days in the end

Did mine in about 20 minutes but I took my fibreglass front off which made life much easier!

I did mine in about 20 mins aswell, For the gear box side I jacked the front up and put her on stands, then I just put my hand up behind the driveshafts and did it all by feel.

Its a good idea to clean off the threads, Makes it alot easier to get it on.

good luck!
