both sides go thru the subframe and locked in place with a locknut...

Drivers side there is a banjo fitting which screws into the top of the flexipipe.

Passenger side a male brake fitting screws into the top of the pipe.

Easiest way is undo the caliper off the hub so its free, crack off the flexipipe fitting then turn caliper so the pipe undoes.

Then work on the subframe side.

If your replacing them just cut the pipe then undo :)

There's the nut on the caliper, and the other nut at the top of the hose but then one more on the other side of the subframe... It looks tricky to get to. Do I need to remove that nut on the subframe? ( mounting nut?)

The nut on the caliper and at the top of the hose are part of the pipe they are bonded on...you turn those the pipe twists.

You need to free one end first so the pipe doesn't twist.

Thats why I said remove the caliper so you can turn the caliper which will undo that end of the pipe.

Inside the subframe can be tricky , probably easier if you remove the rad.

You hold the large nut which is a fixture on the hose, underneath the subframe, with an open ended spanner, and unscrew the large nut on top with a socket, having first removed the banjo or rigid pipe from the top of the hose.

The fixed pipe started twisting on the passenger side so I did what I can with that side... What's the best way to tackle the big nut on the drivers side? Any tips on getting access?

If removing hose from the calliper, loosen it before you take the calliper off. Just easier that way.

Cheers

Yeah tried attacking from the front but the angle is very awkward... Maybe a smaller 24mm spanner could do the trick...

There is actually an access hole on the passenger side in the inner wing, seems a bit daft they didn't put one on drivers side.. guess you could always cut one out..

I have always wondered why this is. Perhaps because the rad is in the way on the passenger side? It's a damn fiddle job, no mistake.
