Indicator Stalk - End Is Rotating.

I fitted a new indicator stalk about six months go due to broken full beam switch in it and a broken steering column plastic bracket.
Noticed today though that the end of it is now rotating freely around the metal stalk. Not supposed to do that. Everything still works, horn press included. I suspect someone was heavy handed with it during the MoT earlier this week, I.e. Tried to twist it on to switch lights on or something.
Is there anyway to disassemble and repair this or is just asking for further trouble?
Cheers

I very much doubt they are massively disassembleable (good word) or repairable. If you tried to get the end off, it would probably snap. If you tried to drip glue down it, you'll just get glue everywhere. Good luck trying though!
Sad as it sounds you might be better getting a replacement, first or second hand.

Thank you.
I thought as much. I do have the stalk that broke a while back, I'll have a go on that first, or maybe even see if I can just transplant the actual stalk.
Cheers

How did the first one break?
My wiper stalk broke last year. The connection for the flick-wipe deteriorated so it wouldn't do it unless you pushed it really hard, and then it stopped completely. I had to replace the whole thing!

Yep, same but on indicator side. Full beam switch went first, then was about to replace when the plastic mounting bracket snapped. By the time this new stalk arrived (proper Lucas part), the indicators had started to play up. I.e. could get right indication but left only if you held it there.
This new Lucas one is only six months old and although it seems it has been actually broken by someone else, already feels very notchy.

Weird! I just replaced mine with a decent second hand one, cheaper and tried and tested. Not sure if the quality of the new ones is to blame!
