hi well as most of you no i have just rebuilt my mini and i took it to himley hall mini show for my first time. but i had a few issues on the way.

(1) driving along in 4th doing around 40 and engine suddenly cut out. so i push the clutch in and tryed to start it again and it wouldnt have it. so pulled over and my old man moved the wires around and then it fired back up. so very strange. ino for sure its the electrics but what wire could it off been to do this? everything is new and jez has done a lovely job doing it for me but i dont want it to happen again. i drove it today to bilston and it drove fine. any thoughts what to check?

(2) passenger arch trim fell off but i have put some clips to hold it on and it has still come of so i was thincking run a silicon line in the groove of the trim and push it on to hold it in place? but can silicon harm the metal over time?

(3) i find it hard to get in first i can be sitting at the lights and i go to put it in and it wont go in unless i go 3rd first and then it will go in or even pull of in 2nd to get it moving abit and then put it in 1st just never wants to go in first time. any thoughts? maybe its just me i need to get use to it haha

(4) hazards have stopped working all of a sudden. everything else works but i tryed them when i broke down and nothing happend any thoughts?

thats it so far. god i thought i was finished   cheers tom

hi well i have had a good look around it and the electrics look fine. but i do reckon its my air filter that caused it to cut out. its a different one compared to the mini ones i think mine come of a metro. but i found it was making a noise like it does when the filter is of so i grabbed the old original air filter fastened that down and it stoped making the noise and then suddenley cut out. so i tryed to spin it over and it would not fire up. i then took it back off and started it without the filter and it fired back up? does this mean the carb is not set up and it needs more air to suck threw to fire? cheers tom
