Not sure if this should be in another section but here goes. I need to clean the plastic/vinyl covered trim in my wife’s car.  It’s not a mini but a Nissan Figaro. FO some reason all the trim up the A pillars and around the front sun visors and rear view mirror has as sticky substance on it. We think before we bought it someone tried to put some sort of wax/coating on it and it just created a sticky mess. I tried using some isopropyl alcohol on a test are and it cleaned the dirt that stuck to the sticky stuff but and with hard rubbing the sticky stuff but I am afraid that much rubbing might damage the rest of the trim. Could anyone recommend a cleaner/solvent that will clean it without damaging it? I have tried autoglym vinyl cleaner which I use on my minis seats but it does not work. I need something that will dissolve the sticky stuff and then allow me to condition the trim with vinyl conditioner.

Thanks

Sounds like you need a tar and glue remover. Tar dis from Autosmart is a very good one but there are many out there.

Try Wd40, as you did with the alcohol though, try it on a test piece first.

All sound good so far thanks for the replies any other suggestions just to cover all bases. Is Tardis ok for vinyl as it seems mainly to be for the external body work.
