They look good!
Do you still restore cars?

I agree with Bungle, a restored car could be hiding all sorts of nasties, particularly if you know nothing about the person who did the resto. Far better to find yourself an unmolested example instead. Even if you find one that needs some work, if you get that work done or do it yourself, then at least you''l know what's been done to it and that it's been done properly.
Another option is to buy from the classifieds section here, many cars for sale here have a photographic stage by stage build thread here, so you can see exactly what's been done to them.
I don't even know if there is a local mini club! I've never even thought of this!
Well, I was hoping joining here might help which it has already proven it will! I'll just have to have a hunt around.

I'm just about to have a look on the classifieds section now.
I know that it would be better getting one as untouched as possible even if it is bad and doing it up but, I don't trust myself to do it properly and I'm probably going to get someones back up here but, I don't trust mechanics.
I'm just worried they'll charge me more than what they should be doing or they'll just try and fix it up quick to get the money. Sorry to all the nice mechanics out there.
Definitely getting in touch with her!!

To be fair, if you're not able to work on a mini yourself, then whatever state of mini that you buy, you're going to need to find yourself someone you can trust to do all that for you. All classic mini's require constant servicing and attention, so if you can't do that yourself, or don't trust yourself to do so, then you're really going to need to find someone that can. There really are some very good people out there, you just need to find someone familiar with classic cars (preferably minis) and that has a decent reputation amongst the classic mini scene.

There's lots of unwelded mini's out there..... (like this one)

......the trick is finding one that doesn't actually need any welding doing either!! ![]()

Jagman2003 will restore that one easy peasy. Late model MPI's had poor quality control and a lot of areas had very little if any paint applied. That's why they go crusty a lot quicker than much older mini's.

I think £3000 could buy a very nice 90s model.

I bought an unrestored 1977 mini 1000 a couple of years ago with tax and 1 months MOT left for under a grand, drove it straight away and it passed its MOT the following month without a single issue. Last week I bought a 1993 mini cooper for over twice what I paid for the mini 1000 and the cooper has been RESTORED. The car was restored on the outside but the owner didn't restore the inside i.e inner sills. These were flapping away and where the floor met the sills was missing in areas. The cooper came with a years MOT! I have spend the last week welding the car to make it roadworthy and strong as well as compile a list of other parts I need that are either damaged or missing! The best built cars imo are the 70/80's cars. After that the quality of build rapidly went downhill...
