trying to adjust the rear drum pads.
but the adjuster seams to be stuck,
what would happen if the adjust snapped off?
would the drums still work ok?

the brakes would still work but not great. best to buy a new adjuster kit.

They'll still work but at some point the shoes will wear down and you'll probably notice a lot of pedal travel and possibly need to pump the brakes.
Best to free it off or replace the backplate if you can't get it free.
use the correct square hole brake spanner

Do you need to replace the complete back plate?
And I am using the correct spanner

If you can't get the adjuster out then yes it is a new backplate.

Your shoes wont wear out though....as they wont be touching the drum very oftern.
Without being able to adjust the...the front's will be doing more work...and you'll notice more pedal travel
It wont snap off....you may round off the end however.
If penetrating oil dopesn't work....try heat
