So ever since I can remember, I have loved minis. When I was young I used to go in my families minis and just absolutely loved how you could feel every bump in the road and even before driving one,I knew how much fun they were.

This got me thinking about what would have been the first mini I went in. I have asked my dad and know it was a brown one that belonged to my grandma and uncle (i'm going to try and find it now).

My bfs first mini he went in was mine and has owned 5 minis since....

My mini was also the first mini my sisters friend went in and she now has a mini as her first car...

So what I want to know is, what was everyone first mini they went in and has anyones mini been an influence to others getting a mini
:D

First mini was a mate's '71 (knackered drums all round) with a (leaky) metro turbo lump in it. Every panel was a different colour, the turbo seals had gone so it laid a smokescreen til it warmed up and you had to pump the brakes 3 times to get pressure. We went off the Speedo on the A6 one night about 9 years ago, and I was hooked!

I bought a second hand 850 in 1961, 9239DD. It was icky yellow with pale blue seats. I can still remember how roomy it seemed with its flat floor and magic wand gearstick. I took it back to the garage after a week because the fuel gauge didn't seem to be working. They said it would go down a bit if I went at more than 30mph sometimes.

The first mini I got to drive in was my first car when I got for my birthday after passing my test.

the first mini I ever got to go in was when I lived in Greece, it was being used as a plant pot by a family friend. He also offered to buy my sister for a bag of oranges, looking back, he was quite odd.

The same as what I said in the "Favorite Mini" thread.

My Nan's blue Mini - although now, i'm not to sure what Mini it was.   She'd let me sit in it and I would pretend to drive it :P  I remember the "old car smell" it had, oil and petrol haha.  The solid doors that you actually have to shut for them to close.... as soon as I sat in my current Mini, it brought it all back.

Sadly, it's long gone now - but still got many parts still randomly about and the number plates!  I've been meaning to dig some pictures out of it.  I'd love my Mini to be resprayed to that exact blue one day.

The first mini I ever drove was my own but the first mini I sever sat in was a GT, green I think it was that was in a blokes garage opposite my nans house. It was one that my uncle and his mate used to rally in way back when they were young. I always said I wanted that mini, been sat in there for years and years then one day when I was older and came back for a look it was gone! And I don't know where, hopefully not scrapped.

Probably my Brothers J reg 850. Though I do remember sitting in the back of a Typhoo tea Mini van to be taken to the golf club for my first round of golf. I was probably about 12. My first car was a Mini 1000 in 1979. My Dad also had a Min, so did my my first GF, a T reg Clubman. She is now my wife. Roll the clock on some years and Mini No... I have lost count is sat on the drive.

That's my story

Pete

First mini I sat in was at my old job, 16 year old at a classic car garage, had to bleed the brakes on a mini with cobra classics, and as soon as i sat in it I felt at home,

but one of my memories that sticks from when I was a child was a mini coming over a crest by my house, bouncing along and it just looked fun!

first mini I ever drove was my one which is now rocking cobra classics ( I wonder why ;) ) and I have driven a mates mini which was a rotbox, with a pokey 1275 unit in it, christ that thing went and I now own that engine which will be rebuilt into a nice little stormer for my GT project
