First Mini I ever sat in was an old family friends (who we don't talk to anymore, long story) Believe it was a British Leyland Mini HLE in that Russet Brown? (if they made them in that colour) anyway it was a poo Brown colour with Dark Brown vinyl seats. I must of only been about 5 or 6 but I only remember sitting in it. I think it even had those 70's bull bars painted Black lol. Didn't sit in another one until I was about 12 when one of the local schools was having a charity fete. They had an autocross style mini in their field to drive around in. Then fast forward to just over a year ago, n I now was sitting in my very own Cooper! Grinning like a Cheshire cat from ear to ear
Can't ever see myself selling my first car, he's part of the family now, would be like selling a best friend. Sad I know ![]()

First one I can remember is our next door neighbours grey Mk1 Woody, this would have been around 1970 but it was a '65 car on a C plate. She'd give Mum and me a lift to town in it a lot... I remember the smell inside vividly, slightly musty but nice all the same, and I used to get told off for fidding about with the sliding windows. The woodwork was hand varnished every year and they kept it for about ten years, lovely looking thing it was with a red interior and a '60s aftermarket wooden dash.
Around the same time the bloke who ran the local barber's had a Riley Elf which he'd hand painted bright purple with a white roof, it was a bit of a mess even then but stood out from the crowd. I never had a ride in it but the memory of seeing it everyday as I walked to school sort of sits alongside the memories of neighbour's Woody. Happy days, when Mk1 and Mk2 Minis were seen everywhere, day in day out

My uncle used to transport cars around the country and he stopped by one day with a mini on teh back of his truck one day knowing I liked minis. He said, "You're not supposed to do this but keep it quiet" and he goes and unlocks the Mini starts it up and says "take a seat" I was speechless. Then he says "Are you gonna rev it or what!" So there I go start revving it and ever since, I was dying to get in a Mini of my own. Had to wait a long time though as I was like 12 at the time.
I remember it quite well, it was a brown mini with a full roll cage in, 10 inch revos and I think I over heard my uncle saying to my dad that the guy that he was taking it to was planning on doing some hill climbing in it.

However, the one I remember with most affection was my mate's red 1000 with 10 inch Wellers and the interior covered in black fur. It had Fiat 132 seats. I loved that car. I wanted to buy it but it was sold before I passed my test and the new owner rolled it...

I know when the Mini was launched in 1959, the new novelty car was displayed in Courtaulds in Hannover Square W1so I was taken late at night by my parents in my pyjamas and dressing gown to look at it. I was only 26 at the time ...
... Months!
Then I recall my dad driving me in a Hornet in snow.
First Mini I drove was my Harvest Gold 1275GT when I was 18.
