Is synthetic brake fluid ok to bleed my brakes with? Going to use dot 4

Yes. Don't use dot 5 as it will react and turn to jelly with the dot 4. Dor 5 is sillicone based.

It says you can mix synth and non-synth of the same type - but not silicon (Dot 5).

Yeah. The modern stuff is probably friendlier to the old rubber than the old stuff.
