Which means I cant get to Sainsbury's for my lager shop because the car park will be full of people wanting to watch James Martin stuff a chicken and cover it in puff pastry!

If he's going to be in his fire proof undies, I'll make the effort to come to that!

Every year I look forward to this weekend (the second weekend in May) because it's L2B weekend!! But not this year because thanks to IMM it's been put back to the 2nd June!!
Now as much as I'd love to do the 1000 mile road trip through the Alps to Tuscanny for IMM, neither of my minis are up to it, (can't really see the wife and kids being up for it either for that matter), so that leaves me at a bit of a loose end this weekend. Worse still, because L2B is in June this year, I can't make that either.

So....any other mini events on this weekend?

I wish I had the control over my husband that your wife has over you! I've been left behind for the fourth year running while he takes MY Mini to an IMM! I have the joys of GCSEs with my youngest sons. It would firstly never have occurred to him to take me (who else would look after the kids!), and secondly, leaving me and kids behind wouldn't stop him, arguably, he would say it was a compelling reason to go!
I'm now stuck at home with the kids, he's in Italy, so I'm having to console myself with looking at Maestros, Montegos and Rover 800s on eBay. Well, while the cats away the mouse can play! ![]()

If that's a euphemism, I'm gonna throw a sicky and head there

Really Tanya. With the greatest of respect... Grow a pair!!
If I took my wife's Mini (I only spanner on it) anywhere out of our fair county without her I would lose my tackle.
I can spend two weeks driving it back and forth sorting a carb issue, I can have it off the road for a week while I custom cut new carpets, it can be on axle stands for two weeks as I repair a suspension issue.
But heaven forbid that I drive the car for purely pleasure for more than a couple of miles. It is "her" car and I respect that.
Really, doing the IMM without you, not once, but four times? I would have words.
Sounds like a bit selfish to me....
On the plus side, I'm going to all of them from 2015 (well obviously I'm going next year, but that doesn't count!) and I will be driving ![]()
I have about another week to get myself Maestro, Montego or Rover 800 before he's back. I don't have a Rover 800 yet, always fancied the Mk1 (LMXX) Fastback. Ideally I would like a Tickford Turbo, but it will be easier to find rocking horse poo. So people, send your Rover 800 Mk1 Fastback finds my way ![]()

I've always thought of mini events as family outings, so leaving the wife and kids behind would never really occur to me.

Mind you, to be fair if I ever found my missus looking at Maestros and Montego's, then I might well leave her behind and probably wouldn't ever come back for that matter either!......after all, that's a pretty weird thing for a bloke to do, but for someone of the fairer sex, it's just plain disturbing!
Look what you've made me do now! Aren't they gawgus

Tempted to do what exactly??.... Gouge my own eyes out with blunt, rusty, hooks perhaps?? ![]()
I have to say that with the exception of the Metro I find rest of the Austin/Rover back catalogue painfully uninspiring. If I'm honest the Metro was also a truly awful car, but I have to admire it for of it's invaluable service in providing donor engines and brake setups for the classic mini, like some sort of unplanned "dolly the sheep". ![]()
As for the rest of the range, there's a reason why BMW kept the concept of the Mini and dumped everything else ya know!! ![]()

So with no mini events on the horizon for this weekend I eventually admitted defeat and had a weekend at home mowing the lawn and doing mundane household chores. ![]()
Then this evening I stumbled accross this thread http://www.theminifo...-meet-19th-may/ for the "Northants Old Skool Rides Meet" that took place today!!. A relatively local event for the classic mini and other's.... How on earth could I have missed that??
