iI ve just got a vacuum gauge that I want to fit. The thin diameter pipe that goes from the dizzy to the carb, the plastic pipe that fits on the dizzy has broke off.

Can I use larger diameter pipe off the dizzy and t piece it to the small pipe to the carb and big diameter to the guage if that makes sense :-)

I don't think the vacuum used by the distributor for advance is what you want to be monitoring with a vacuum gauge.  As above the gauges usually monitor manifold depression while the distributor should be using throttle edge depression which isn't often the same.  In any case can you even get a tee-piece with different gauge connections on different outlets at this size?

Assuming you have a standard fit HS4 carb, just buy one of these to replace your standard alloy carb spacer between the carb and inlet manifold.

It has the built in vacuum line take off and is in the right place (i.e. after the throttle butterfly).

What Carb are you using?  The Otter has the best solution in buying one of those spacers with the vacuum take-off already there.

You can either drill into, tap, and then fit a screw in nipple for the vacuum hose directly into your inlet (REMOVE THE INLET FROM THE CAR BEFRE DRILLING, you don't want that alloy swarf to be pulled into your head), or again fit one of those ready made spacers.

I recently fitted a vacuum gauge into my car and went for one of those mini-spares spacers, works great!!
